Redwings try to establish themselves in the Verbandsleague
Constant improvement
at the end of last season is raising
expectations for the team in 2009.
The oldest Redwings team will be participating at the highest state level once again in 2009. After struggling early on last season, coming from the Landesleague, where the team was too strong for the competition and regularly breezed through the weekend with Mercyrule wins after 3 innings the team had to adjust to playing 14Innings on gamedays. This was especially felt with the pitching depth, which was also hit by some injuries. The team therefore is trying to establish some young pitchers to make a difference this season and is hoping to be competitive from the get go. Even though the team lost MVP Kai Schütt, as well as veterans Martin Schmithals and Oli Angnes, new player-coach Richard "Pichy" Hilgart is confident the team will rank higher in this years standings with the goal being a 4th place finish. Continuing the good youth work, the team will also try to give some promising junior players some time on the field, so they can already get used to the level of play at a young age and it will be easier for them once they move of to the mens team.
Of course the team is always looking for additional players as the long term goal is to have a 2nd team as well as a fun team, so we can offer more levels of play.
