Glen was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA and has played
baseball for as long as he can remember.
He played on his first "real" team when he was
8 years old. Before then, he would play baseball after
school nearly every day with friends. If his friends could
not play, he would throw a baseball against the wall of
his house and practice fielding ground balls. Glen said
that "The constant "knocking" on the walls
drove my parents crazy, but at least they knew where I
was!"
Glen played baseball in both high school and at Carthage
College. He started as an outfielder, but moved to the
infield during his second year of high school. From then,
he played mostly third base or second base. In college,
he played mainly second base. While he was never a "power
hitter", he was a pretty good "contact"
hitter striking out only once for every 25 at bats in
college. He batted .281 in college and had the highest
fielding percentage in the conference during his final
season.
Glen stopped playing baseball after college and did not
start again until he played for Kriftel. Said Glen, "I
never thought I would be playing baseball again at age
42; especially in Germany."
He goes on to say, "I have really enjoyed playing
with the Redwings and will miss both playing baseball
and the friends I have met. Best of luck to the Redwings
in the future!" |
