History

A review with lots of highs and lows.

 Jahr Highlights
1994 September 12th 1994 Founding of the club with the Name B.C. Kriftel Redwings
1995 17.03.1995: Induction of the first Baseballclub of the Main-Taunus district into Frankfurt´s register of associations
23.04.1995: First official baseball game in a HBSV in the Main-Taunus district
1996 The Redwings are starting Mens, Womens and Youth teams in the HBSV leagues. The Mens team advances to the Landesliga. Practice times are being limited due to alleged noise violations.
1997 Redwings have four teams (Mens, Womens, Junior and Youth) participating in league play.
The city buiilts a backstop for the team.
The Juniors team´s 3rd place in the state championship is the club´s biggest success so far.
1998 The club now eclipses 150 members and has Mens I +II, Womens, Juniors and Youth, so five teams taking part in league play.
Mens I continue their ascent to the Verbandsliga (highest inner state league).
The Juniors reach 2nd place in the state championship and therefore surpass their success from the year before.
1999 The adoption of the Höchst Piranhas club leads to over 200 members.
For the first time the club has six teams participating with the addition of the Kids team.
As the first Baseballclub in Hessen the Redwings start a Cheerleading Squad.
Mens II go up one league to the Landesliga
A case is taken to the judge against the Redwings for alleged noise violations.
2000 The court case leads to lots of members looking elsewhere.
That fact also reflects on the field as only the Kids team is able to secure a 3rd place.
2001 The continuing struggles of the case lead to further loss of members and Youth and Mens II teams have to be abandoned.
The Womens team is still able to win 2nd place in state competition while the Mens team is relegated to the Landesliga
The absolute low point is reached when the case is lost and play has to be abandoned in Kriftel
2002 Fortunately the neighbouring city of Hofheim and the sports association TGS Langenhain are kind enough to offer the Redwings a playing field in Langenhain.
Three teams take part in league competition and considering the off-field issues play quite well.
2003 With a new field in place members keep coming back and new members are recruited.
The Mens Team plays its most succesful season so far and again is going to the Verbandsliga, while Redwingsplayer receive all League Awards.
Unfortunately the Womens team has to be abandoned after 8 years due to personal developments and relocation.
2004 Membership keeps rising, so Mens II and Youth teams are able to take part in league play again.
All teams play solid seasons.
The club celebrates its 10 - Year Anniversary with a big party and an Invitational Tournament.
2005 Mens II have to be abandoned again, because some players relocate to other areas.
Mens I are relegated to the Landesliga. The Youth team finishes in 3rd place, while the Kids team plays a solid season as well.
Negotiations with the city of Hofheim lead to positive developments concerning an own field, which is the ultimate goal for the club as its practice and playing times are limited in Langenhain.
2006 Even though lots of players leave for other teams the Mens team is able to finish in 3rd place and beat every team at least once.
After a very succesful season the Youth team slightly misses the playoffs with a loss in the last game of the season and finishes in 3rd place, while the Kids team finishes in 4th.
The Redwings also get a lot closer to their "Field of Dreams" and hand it in ther building application.
2007 The most succesful year in the club´s history sees the Mens and Youth teams win their leagues, while the Kids team finishes in 3rd. That is not the only positive as plans for their field become more concrete every day. Its only a question of when not if anymore. So everyone cant wait for the Baseballfield at Sportpark Heide in Hofheim. [more]
